Suzuki C-200 Classical Guitar – Handcrafted in Japan (Late 1970s) – Excellent Craftsmanship
For sale is a beautifully built Suzuki C-200, handcrafted by Suzuki Violin Co., Ltd. in Japan in the late 1970s (circa 1979). Instruments from this era are respected for their disciplined construction, careful tonewood selection, and refined workmanship. Japanese classical production in the 70s emphasized precision joinery and structural integrity, and this guitar reflects that tradition.
The tonewoods are thoughtfully matched. A solid spruce top delivers clarity and responsiveness, while rosewood back and sides add warmth, depth, and definition. The mahogany neck paired with a rosewood or ebony fingerboard provides stability and a comfortable, confident feel in hand. With its 658 mm scale length, it offers the traditional classical tension and balance players expect.
Sonically, the C-200 has a mature, harmonically rich voice. Harmonics ring clean and even, sustain is smooth, and note separation remains articulate whether playing delicate fingerstyle passages or fuller chordal work. It has depth without muddiness and sweetness in the trebles without harshness.
Playability is excellent. The action measures approximately 2.5 mm on the low E string, making it comfortable across the entire neck. The original tuning machines hold pitch perfectly. No buzz, no dead spots.
Cosmetically, it remains very clean for its age. The only noticeable marks are two scratches, one across the back and one near the bridge, both clearly documented in the photos.
No case included, but it will be shipped in a heavy-duty, international-ready guitar shipping box, professionally packed and fully insured for safe delivery.
A finely crafted vintage Japanese classical with beautiful tone and lasting build quality, ready for its next player.
