Vintage Mixer (Fully Serviced, Recapped)

Amazing vintage mixer from the late 1970s, featuring Tamura mic input transformers on every channel — the same type found in the legendary Yamaha PM-1000, TEAC mixers, and more. On top of that, the main program out (XLR) also runs through a Tamura output transformer, giving this unit its rich, musical character.

This unit has been fully serviced:

• Every single capacitor replaced with high-quality Nichicon low ERS capacitor
• Pots, faders, selectors, inputs, and outputs cleaned → smooth and reliable operation, no scratchiness
• Direct outs added to each channel (post-EQ, post-fader) for maximum flexibility

Features & highlights:

• 4-band cut/boost EQ — more flexible than some PM-series counterparts
• Echo send/receive (or any external effects), AUX In 1/2, and a foldback channel for monitoring or creative routing
• Very low noise floor for a vintage unit — no noticeable hiss with channels optimally adjusted → perfectly usable in professional environments
• Direct outs + Tamura transformers = killer tone-shaping options in a modern studio setup

Condition:

• Cosmetic: Good overall (see photos)

• Operating notes:
• 1) LOW EQ on channel #7 will not have any effect on the signal regardless of it's position. 2) Channel #3 will always produce a slightly lower output when receiving an identical signal compared to other channels. It is still 100% usable, and you can still drive the master section in the red with it, but it will need to be 1 "mic attenuation position" higher to produce the same output as the other 11 channels. I think it's because of the limited physical connection for the signal inside the fader.
• Both of these issues are fixable but for now I prefer to discount the mixer until I have time to find parts and fix it.

The MQ Series operating manual is easy to find online, with plenty of examples and setup guidance.
