Yamaha No. G-60 Classical Guitar – Made in Japan (Late 1960s / Early 1970s) – Good Vintage Condition

Up for sale is a vintage Yamaha G-60, made in Japan at the Nippon Gakki factory in the late 1960s to early 1970s, approximately between 1967 and 1973. This was the period when Yamaha was establishing its global reputation, and Japanese-built guitars from this era are especially appreciated for their consistency, clean workmanship, and structural reliability.

Even as part of Yamaha’s more accessible classical line, the G-60 reflects the precise factory craftsmanship Japan became known for during this time. Tight construction, stable neck geometry, and durable finishing are part of why these instruments are still around decades later and still playing well.

Tonally, this guitar offers a warm and balanced classical voice. The bass is round and supportive, mids are clear and focused, and the trebles remain sweet without becoming sharp. It responds nicely to both light fingerstyle and a firmer right-hand attack. There’s a mature, opened-up character that newer entry-level classicals often lack.

Structurally, the guitar is healthy. The bridge is solid and properly glued, the top shows no belly or warping, and there have been no previous repairs. The original tuning machines are still installed and functioning well. Frets have been polished, it holds tuning properly, and it plays cleanly with no buzz or dead spots.

The action currently measures 3.0 mm on the low E string, which is comfortable for most players. I can lower it further to a requested height before shipping, within reasonable setup limits. There is a slightly more noticeable neck dip past the 12th fret than some classical guitars, but it does not affect playability and remains within what is commonly seen on older nylon-string instruments.

Cosmetically, the only notable mark is near the bridge, clearly documented in the photos. Otherwise, it presents very nicely for its age with honest vintage character.

No case included, but it will be shipped in a heavy-duty, international-ready guitar box, professionally packed and fully insured.

A well-built Japanese classical from Yamaha’s formative export years, ready for its next chapter.
