At Herscheid & the Headbangers: Fully Serviced & Recapped Yamaha PM-700 with Direct Outs in Very Good condition

This Yamaha PM-700 has been fully serviced, recapped, and it operates flawlessly, sounds phenomenal, and is ready to deliver decades more of warm, musical tone.

Every potentiometer and fader moves smoothly, free from noise or scratchiness. Inside, every electrolytic capacitor has been replaced with premium low-ESR Nichicon, Nichicon Muse or ELNA caps. (Made in Japan — the same 2 brands Yamaha originally used).

If you know Yamaha’s PM line, you already understand why this one stands out. The PM-700 sits perfectly between the compact PM-430 and Yamaha’s large-format studio consoles, offering full transformer-balanced In/Out, flexible routing, and a tone that simply locks in a mix.

Specifications & Features

  • Transformer-balanced inputs and outputs throughout, using high-quality Tamura transformers for the Main Program L/R, Monitor 1 and Monitor 2
  • Tamura mic input transformers on every input channel — musical, full-bodied, and exceptionally low-noise.
  • Discrete Yamaha NE80200 op-amps in the signal path, delivering smooth dynamics and rich midrange.
  • Direct Outs on every input channel (post-EQ and post-fader) for effortless multitrack recording or hybrid summing setups.
  • 6-position input attenuation switch per channel: Off, +4, –20, –30, –40, –50 dB, providing broad headroom control for both mic and line sources.
  • 3-Band Channel EQ (Low, Mid, High) with wide curves for shaping sources naturally.
  • Master 3-Band EQ on the Main Program, Monitor 1, and Monitor 2 outputs, each with independent On/Off switches perfect for tailoring mixes to different destinations
  • Monitor 1 (Echo Send) letting you patch in any external effect — reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, tape echo, or modulation — and blend it seamlessly into your mix.
  • Monitor 2 ideal for stage monitoring, auxiliary mixes, or separate feed setups. Because Monitor 2 runs pre-fader, you can build unique cue or effects mixes independently of your main output.
  • 2 Auxiliary Inputs, each with Pan and Level controls, provide flexible integration for external line sources, synths, submixers, or effect returns.
  • Cue and Talkback system built-in, maintaining the PM-700’s professional live and broadcast heritage.
  • Since the task lamp was socket was missing, I've installed a more common 3 pins XLR there. **Please note that this mixer was made before the avent of LEDs so the current is 10 Volts AC, made for a traditional incadensant lamp. LED would require a separate transformer.
  • Super low noise floor — this unit runs quiet even at full gain, a testament to Yamaha’s discrete design and the full recap.
  • Balanced XLR and Unbalanced ¼" Outputs available on all main busses (Program L/R, Monitor 1, Monitor 2), plus Sub Inputs on each for expanded routing or cascading multiple mixers.
  • VU meters with all lamps replaced inside
  • Rugged all-steel chassis, premium faders, and long-life rotary pots — built for professional touring and studio use.

Like other vintage Yamaha PM and MQ series consoles, the PM-700 is equally at home in the studio or on stage — delivering punchy, harmonically rich analog sound that modern mixers simply can’t replicate at this price point. With Tamura transformers and direct outs it’s an incredibly versatile tool for recording, summing, or live mixing.

If you’ve been waiting for a properly serviced PM-700 with all the right upgrades, this one’s ready to get to work in your new set up!

Quick and fully insured shipping.
